For more than four decades, Santhal Pargana Gram Rachna Sansthan (SPGRS) has been working at the grassroots to uplift vulnerable communities in Jharkhand and Bihar. What began in 1978 as a small initiative supported by visionary leaders and freedom fighters has now transformed into a movement for social empowerment, dignity, and sustainable development.

Our mission revolves around strengthening communities through education, livelihood opportunities, gender equality, health awareness, and participatory governance. We believe that true transformation begins when people are empowered to lead their own progress, and our programs reflect this philosophy in action.

Youth as Drivers of Development

SPGRS has consistently invested in the potential of young people. Through skill-based training—including tailoring, weaving, spinning, nursing, and digital literacy—we are opening new avenues for decent livelihoods. Our financial literacy sessions further equip youth with essential decision-making skills, allowing them to manage income, save, and pursue entrepreneurship. Every trained youth becomes a catalyst for progress within the community.

Agriculture & Livelihood Strengthening

Rural livelihood depends heavily on agriculture, and SPGRS is helping farmers adopt practices that guarantee long-term sustainability. From organic farming workshops to soil health management, crop diversification, rainwater harvesting, and efficient irrigation methods, we prepare farmers to adapt to changing environments. Market linkage support ensures that their hard work results in fair income and economic stability for their families.

Preserving and Promoting Traditional Crafts

The rich heritage of Santhal Pargana is reflected in its handicrafts and handloom. SPGRS supports artisans with skill-development training, improved tools, and direct market access—both offline and online. By introducing contemporary designs and ensuring fair trade, we help artisans preserve cultural identity while earning a sustainable livelihood.

Championing Gender Equality

Our gender sensitization programs challenge long-held stereotypes and empower women to claim their rights. Through workshops, awareness drives, and community dialogues, we promote safe environments where women and girls can participate equally in decision-making, education, and economic activities.
